2nd Avenue Subway Station

2nd Avenue Subway Station, one of the four gleaming NYC subway stations at 72nd street opened following a 15-year effort that saw the introduction of numerous custom luminaires designed to define public areas in a visually pleasing, maintainable and energy efficient manner.

Lighting approaches were coordinated to enhance the significant public art presence at the station. HK provided the luminary solution to uplifted the deep underground station into a gracious public transportation environment.
